Can we watch sport games on TV in this bar? (like soccer world cup games)?
Literally the best craft bar in Kyoto.
I tried a sake beer type that was very good. ipa session was horrible, almost no gas and no taste of hop or smell. It was suuuuper expensive: 2200 yen for two beers... Doesn't worth it.
MoreNice place but very expensive beer+ loud music. All beers were 900 for 350ml which is by far the highest we have seen in a week.
MoreThe food was almost tapas style and was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful in deciphering the local beer list. You can get small sized beers in order to try several. Price was approximately 900-1000 yen for about a pint of craft Japanese beer. Tapas were reasonably priced (600 to 1200 yen each). Good atmosphere.
MoreNice place! Great staff good atmosphere. the beer tasted bad. Beer and food was overpriced. Convenience store beer is way better. And cheaper. Nice place to hang out though.
MoreFantastic vibe, service and Japanese music. An authentic/local experience with plenty of bar chat. Food was delicious too, recommend the curry udon.
MoreA few reviews have mentioned that the owner was unfriendly but I think he's just a reserved guy who's serious about his beer. He was a bit concerned about us bringing our four-year-old in (not usual in Japanese pubs) but luckily she was well-behaved and by the time we left he had really warmed to her. The beer is great-- yes, expensive for Japan but top quality. We had the fish and chips and curry rice and both were delicious.
MoreVery nice beer selection. Excellent staff and wonderful people. Thank you. Hope to see you in portland someday!
MoreLove this place, great great bar food, good beer, nice bartenders, lively atmosphere. What else could you want from a bar.
MoreGreat friendly place in central Kyoto. This is the first place you should stop on your tour of Kyoto craft beer pubs. The staff is friendly and makes you feel like a regular right away. There are lots of regulars and lots of tourists and nobody is looking down on anyone. On a given night there will be 10 beers from lagers to fruit beers to IPA to porters. Sometimes you get lucky with an awesome Sansho or Yuzu ale showcasing the best of Japan. Beer is always good. They have fresh oysters and a nice bar menu to chose from Prices are not cheap but in range of what you can expect here in Kyoto. It’s easy to make friends and the bar gets pretty busy later on but never too busy. Come by and say hi!
MoreA very nice pub for craft beer enthusiasts. Friendly staff! The beers are quite expensive (a big one sets you back a 1 000 ¥) but I'm used to that like all Finns are.
MoreOne of my favorite bars I visited during my trip to Japan. Really friendly staff. Great food (the grilled edamame and fired chicken were the best I had in Japan) and most importantly great Japanese craft beer. It is a little pricey but the friendly vibe and other friendly patrons (an easy place to start a conversation) made it worth it.
MoreGreat pub in Kyoto for trying out some (local) craft beers.
Craft beers from all around Japan but also from the elusive Kyoto Brewery. Edamame here is boiled then grilled, the way all edamame should be eaten. Food’s fantastic, beer’s good — what more can one ask for?
MoreIt's a place that you wish was your local. Welcomed like a regular at this small bar, it was late on a Monday when we arrived, and they were out of 2 of the 8 beers on tap. The place was busy and obviously well frequented by locals and tourists alike. We had two tasting flights of the remaining 6 beers, a pilsner, a lemon radler, two IPAs, a wheat and a stout. All of good to great quality. Pity we'd eaten as the small plates being cooked in front of us smelled and looked great. Recommended. Update: went back next night for food - it was as good as expected, smoked duck salad was excellent. As was the broiled octopus and small pizza.
MoreGreat beers. Good for watching rugby
Great little bar with a friendly atmosphere. Only stocks local craft beers on tap and they’re awesome. You’ll pay a little more than standard here, but its worth it.
MoreWe got the wheat beers and the Pilsner. They were all great craft beers. I would say it’s a little overpriced but it’s a cool place to stop by to grab a quick beer before going to a restaurant. The pictures show the large beers.
MoreLittle pricey, but really nice craft beer and funny staff !!
Interesting selection of good local beers, tasty food, friendly helpful staff. Lively pub atmosphere. Great for a swift pint and nibbles, or a full on evening meal.
MoreWhy I love it? 8 Japanese craft beers on tap + Guinness and small plates of good food. Nice staff too! We parked our bikes in the wrong spot and they moved them for us!
MoreNeighborhood pub, friendly owners, nice vibe, tasty, ever-changing beer menu. Good place to make new friends.
MoreClass act, sophisticated local bar with a good selection of craft beers and food.
Morehad been today. And i had a large Guinness and Raw Oyster . It was delicious.Good service . Recommend
MoreNice selection of local craft beers. Also best pickled vegetables I've had in Kyoto.
MoreGreat beersVery friendly staffNot cheap
Beautiful bar with very hipster vibe: light design, great choice of draft beers and delicious tapas including amazing oysters and fish carpaccio. Relaxed atmosphere. Non smoking. Not cheap but totally worth the price. Thanks guys!
MoreThey have good craft beers and a nice atmosphere! It's quite expensive though, with about 1200 yen per pint...but the few places in Kyoto where you can have good beer have prices in this range.
MoreCosy, friendly staff, English menu and tasty local beers!
Overpriced and service is very superficial. Mah...
Very good craft beer. Friendly staff. Loved it.
I'd give it 4.5 if I could! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, some good beer choices and some nice smaller food options. Staff were very friendly and though they didn't have an English menu they could explain it to us easily enough. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again next time In kyoto!
MoreCool place for some local crafts and decent food. The bartenders are a funny bunch - bit of a boys club but being a boy and on my own made out to be a fun night.Had two mains the dumplings and the fish and chips, both were unique and good as well as the beer taster (3small beers) and 1 pint all equaling around 5000 yen.Recommend
MoreVery expensive for poor beer. The beers have no foam and you pay 9 euro for a medium beer. Sad...
MoreGreat spot for a quality craft beer from Japan. Good IPA's, especially from an American perspective. Great food as well. The bartenders are skilled cooks serving up great food with awesome hospitality.
MoreFantastic range of beers, excellent food, highly recommend
I like this bar. Japanese brews and a different lineup often. These guys love beer and know beer. Prices can be $10 for a pint. But they offer smaller sizes.
MoreGreat place. Good local drafts, cool employees, and hip and interesting patrons. Favorite bar while I was in Kyoto for a month. The employees and owners are a fun bunch of dudes.
MoreVery friendly staffs, delicious craft beers
Great selection of beers, wish we were hungry enough for food because it smelled great
MoreGreat atmosphere, very decent selection of good quality Japanese craft beers. Prices aren't unreasonable, food is good. Always warm and welcoming.
MoreRefused service because I just wanted dinner, and didn't want to buy a beer. Otherwise good food and good place.
MoreVery good selection of craft beer and friendly staff. The fish and chip was excellent, with scrumptious fish. Nice atmosphere with a packed bar consisting of a varied crowd of people: locals and tourists of different ages. Definitely recommend if you like good craft beer and a fun atmosphere. A bit on the pricey size but worth it.
MoreGreat beer, English speaking staff and good music. Didn’t try the food but it looked good!
MoreNice little pub, good place to chill out, has a very chilled vibe. Food is really good and made to order. If your into your craft beers, check this place out, although the prices for beer is the only thing that's let's it down.....little bit on the expensive side, considering it is only beer
MoreNice place, great atmosphere and very friendly staff!...in the area the best place for a beer!
MoreTakumiya Craft Beer Pub is a great place to start the night. With a great selection of local anf imported Beer on tap and some delicious light meals I would thoroughly reccomend this place for a cheeky IPA.If you dont drink the only non alcoholic beverage is Ginger Beer.
MoreArrived at 21:15 looking forward to drinking some craft beer. Says they are open on google maps (see picture), whole place is shut. Tried calling the number, could hear the phone ringing inside, it transferred to a mobile number (could hear it in the ring tone), they didn’t answer. No notice or reason posted. Just shut, when they should be open. I will gladly change my rating if I get some kind of explanation from the shop. Hope they have a good one, I really needed a drink...
MoreGreat selection ofJapanese craft beersThe food is really goodFriendly staffI highly recommend
